- learn about conservaton of energy.

Social Studies Unit: Citizenship and Government
In this unit, the student will:

- identify characteristics of sequence text pattern;
- eliminate wordiness in his or her writing;
- identify conventions of signs;
- learn about Canadian citizenship and government.

Science Unit 2: Properties of Matter
In this unit, the student will:
- monitor comprehension while reading;
- identify characteristics of question-and-answer text pattern;
- use synonyms to improve voice;
- identify point of view in media texts;
- elaborate and add detail when he or she speaks;
- learn about properties of matter.

Throughout the book, the student will learn the strategies on reading, writing, speaking, listening and media literacy, and trying out these strategies.
